Letter from the Director
Thank you so much for considering YMCA Camp Chandler as a summer camp for your child. Sending your child off to camp for the first time is a momentous event in the life of you and your child.
YMCA Camp Chandler has sought to build character, make a difference, and change lives in the campers and families we serve for over 75 years. Camping is a wonderful experience for children. They learn new exciting skills such as riflery, archery, canoeing, sailing, water skiing, horseback riding, and many, many more. They also have an opportunity to make new friends. Our camp program is designed to aid your child in
their personal development. We hope campers will leave camp having gained self esteem, self confidence, responsibility, independence, and interpersonal skills.
I am a product of YMCA Camp Chandler. I started as a 7-year-old camper and moved through the ranks as a counselor and other leadership positions before coming on as a full-time director. Camp has been one of the most important influences of my life. I have learned countless life lessons at camp. Camp Chandler has continually challenged me in new and wonderful ways going back 30+ years.
I am very proud of our staff. Many of our staff have grown up at Camp Chandler through our leadership development program. As a result, Camp Chandler has a strong sense of tradition and continuity and a very high retention rate. Camp Chandler is a community made up of children, families, alumni, and staff. Together, we are able to have a profound impact on our children and their futures.
