A camp is only as good as its leadership. The success of a camping experience is due in large part to the relationship between a camper and his/her counselor. Therefore, great emphasis is placed on staff selection. Through careful screening and background checks, our diverse staff is selected for their high moral character, maturity, experience, and camping skills. As safety is of utmost concern, staff are certified in CPR and first aid, trained in Child Abuse Prevention of the YMCA of the USA, attend a rigorous 10-day Staff Training, and continue to hone their skills throughout the summer. A 1:4 staff to camper ratio is maintained in order to provide ample supervision. Waterfront activities are taught by certified lifeguards that are trained at our facility. The high percentage of returning campers each year attests to the quality of our staff.
