YMCA Camp Chandler Capital Giving
We are grateful to all of the volunteers and donors who understand have so generously given to Camp Chandler over the years. Camp Chandler has grown and thrived due to their vision. Sustaining and improving Camp for future generations is vital. A capital initiative does more than build new cabins, renovate dining halls and build program facilities. Thanks to philanthropic and institutional support in recent years, we have been able to accomplish more than $3,000,000 in improvements. Enhancing facilities without relying on fees stretches every campership and outreach gift and makes Camp accessible for more children and families while improving programs. Below are photos of enhancements that have been completed over the past year.
Current Capital Projects under consideration and in need of funding are:
The Third phase of the Parker Conference Center Renovation. Through the generosity of Ed Reynolds, Earl Ryser and others, the main room, bed rooms, and bathrooms have been renovated and modernized. The current phase includes:
- Remove and replace remaining masonite siding with rough sawn board and batten stained to match new.
- Replace remaining wood windows with vinyl.
- Renovate counselor’s quarters
- Install air conditioning
- Replace dark paneling with T-111 paneling
- Rework bathroom
- Replace carpet.
- Frame over existing built up roof with new trusses and install architectural shingles.
- Complete stone work on chimney above roof line and replace chimney cap.
- Install wood deck on front porch area to make ADA accessible.
- Change out bedroom lighting
- Add attic insulation over all sleeping areas
Lower Cabin Area renovations. Work on a prototype is underway. Renovations will include new interior and exterior walls, windows, ceilings, new exteriors, new doors, and air conditioning.
Staff Housing. Summer and Year Round staff housing will be enhanced. The Staff Trailer will be replaced by the conversion of the old bath house into staff apartments.
